Liberty’s Dying Light: The Arrest of Ashley Spring and the Fire She and Her Community Lit
Sparks of liberty fly in the wind. The powderkeg waits.
It took centuries to build the illusion of forward motion – and less than a hundred days to catalyze collapse.
The experiment was flawed from inception – elegant on paper, combustible in practice.
By Day 100, ICE was already echoing the Gestapo of 1930s Germany.
Here we are at Day 109 – and the resemblance is no longer rhetorical.
This is infuriating.
ICE just tore another family apart. Due process violation(s) in progress.
Thankfully, nothing happened to the infant child – this time.
But ICE isn’t known for caution…
And it’s only a matter of time.
Liberty’s Dying Light
The ashes of Liberty fly free in the wind, as her enemies do everything they can to extinguish her flame.
It is only a matter of time until the fire finds its fuel – and the powderkeg of Justice ignites her rebirth, like a phoenix rising from the ruins of every empire that came before… and every empire yet to rise, and fall.
Liberty cannot die.
She is the indomitable human spirit – diminished? dulled? dimmed? hidden?
Yes. But never extinguished.
Liberty’s light burns within people like Ashley Spring:
WORCESTER, Mass. — Two people, including a Worcester School Committee candidate, were arrested after a large crowd encircled ICE agents attempting to detain a woman Thursday morning.
Ashley Spring, 38, who is running for the Worcester School Board, was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (unknown liquid), disorderly conduct, and interfering with a police officer.
This is my kind of school board representative – in the streets, not just the meetings. Giving live demonstrations in how to weaponize white privilege for good.
We need more communities made of individuals like Ashley Spring – and it’s happening.
Power to the people. Rise up.
